Project Overview

The Maryland Line to High Ridge project involves the construction of approximately 59 miles of new 500kV transmission lines, within the existing BGE right-of-way, stretching from the High Ridge Substation in Howard County to the Maryland/Pennsylvania State Line north of the Graceton Substation in Harford County.

This work also requires the rebuilding of approximately 34 circuit miles of the existing 500kV transmission line and about 19 circuit miles of the existing 230kV transmission line. The 500kV transmission lines will utilize lattice tower structures and tubular steel pole monopoles, while the 230kV transmission lines will consist of double circuit steel monopoles on concrete foundations. This work is divided into ten sections, which include the demolition, modification, and reconstruction of transmission lines and circuit poles. Construction is expected to begin in 2027.
